BLUE & WHITE CHINOISERIE CHAIR
A NEW CHAIR SILHOUETTE COLLAGE
IS IKAT IN OR OUT?
Quote reads"Some people thought that perhaps Frances had taken the Ikat trend a bit too far". (click image to enlarge) The original is available here.
Recently, my friend Joni at Cote de Texas, wrote an interesting post examining the whole subject of design trends. She is making a series out of it "Cote de Texas' Top 10 Design Elements"- so it should be fun to follow her posts on her signature elements.
I personally don't think that you should worry about what's "in" or what's "out", but rather what you enjoy living with. I thought Ikat prints were supposedly "out", but I am still seeing them everywhere, even in fashion. What are some personal design elements that characterize your unique style?
ELKINS CHAIR SILHOUETTE COLLAGE
Welcome to the first official week of Spring!
This is an new addition to my shop. An entirely hand made collage, not a print. This collage features a white, intricately hand-cut silhouette of a classic Frances Elkins designed chair on a luscious lilac colored background. It's triple-coated with a clear and non-yellowing protective coating. Very strong graphic quality. Sort of what I'd call neo-traditional pop art. Work is mounted on an 12 x 16 gesso board, ready for framing or even perfect on its own!
Limited edition piece signed and numbered by me on the back. Click here to shop!
I SPY.......
One of the best things about sending off my work to clients and customers is hearing that they are enjoying it in their homes. Sometimes people will send me photos or post them on their blog and it always makes me smile. So nice to know that something I've put my heart and soul into can travel so far away and make someone's surroundings a little bit brighter!
WAIT, THERE'S MORE......

HOLIDAY CARDS ARE HERE!!
This year, I have designed several holiday cards and they all are available for purchase on my Etsy site. 3 are very non-traditional with brighter colors not usually associated with the holidays, but very fun!!
Then there's the "Holiday Interior" that is classic in every sense. It features a elegant entry hall with a striped chair and a carved console table with red gift package below a mirror reflecting a holiday bough.

They all come in 2 different sizes, 4.25 x 5.50 inches and 5 x 7 inches. The "Holiday Interior" design also comes in gift enclosure size (3.5 x 2.5). Look for many new gift items to be added to my shop in the coming days.
ORIGINAL WORK - CHAIR ON CHOCOWAVES

This is an original acrylic on board painting by Anne Harwell of an aqua striped classic French bergere chair, all plump and cushy on a white and chocolate brown wavy-striped background. Great graphic quality! Acrylic on board measuring 12x12 inches with brown gallery edge profile of 3/4 inches. Protective covering and wire on back for hanging. Signed and dated on back by artist.
THANK YOU, PVE DESIGN!

I hope you all have a fantastic holiday weekend kicking off the Summer season! Be safe and I will see you back here next week!
TAGGED BY ERIN

1) I use a kid's toothbrush because of the great "turning radius" (I have much too small a mouth to navigate an adult size toothbrush effectively)
2) I prefer savory to sweet flavors and would rather end a meal eating some pepperoncinis than with dessert.
3) I only sleep on the right side of my queen size bed and I don't stretch out, even though I have the whole bed to myself!
4) I get motion sick if I read in a car.
5) I always dry my feet, one by one, when getting out of the shower. Don't know why I even have a bath mat???
6) I love the theme music from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood!
Hope all of you have an OUSTANDING Spring weekend!

ANNECHOVIE IN ART SENOIA

Tomorrow night marks the opening of Art Senoia in suburban Atlanta, Georgia. I encourage anyone who lives in the area to come out for the opening reception, complete with REFRESHMENTS! If you know someone who lives in the area, please spread the word or pass on this link.
A great way to kick off Spring and celebrate the arts. Set against the rustic brick walls of a century-old building, "Art Senoia" will debut April 25th with an opening reception from 6:30 to 9:30 at 20 Main Street in Historic Downtown Senoia. This is the first event of the newly formed Cultural Arts Committee of the Senoia Downtown Development Authority. "Art Senoia" will feature a range of beautiful paintings along with fine photography and art quilts. The art is for sale, and a portion of the proceeds goes to support the Cultural Arts Committee. Local shops and restaurants will also be open the evening of the reception.
Local painters taking part in the show are David Boyd Jr., Victor Dallas, Anne Harwell, Martin Pate, Jane Whitehurst, Joy Whitley and Yun Liu. Photographers showing their artwork are Paul Conlan and Jeremy Harwell. Found metal sculpture by Zack and David Moye and fiber art and quilts by Claudia Wood are also included in the exhibit.
After the April 25th reception, the exhibit will be open Saturdays 11:00 to 5:00 and Sundays 1:00 to 5:00 through Memorial Day, May 26th. It can also be viewed during the week by students and other groups by appointment. The reception and art show are free and open to the public.
Art Senoia is sponsored by the Senoia Downtown Development Authority and The City of Senoia.
